Interrogation - Part 1by tabun

Flash / Animations©2009-2014 tabun
Mature Content
Contains graphic violence and medical gore.

My second proper animation project. I would say this one is a bit better than my last animation project.

I wrote the script and drew up a storyboard in the second half of 2008, and began animation in June 2009.

No sound yet, as it is a work in progress. Part of a longer project which will not see completion for a very long time.

Summary:
A high ranking cyborg soldier is captured after several hours of fighting. He is taken back to a research/intelligence facility by his captors for interrogation. This early version of the animation starts with his capture, and ends with him being wired into a machine for interrogation. In the next part, a vivid, hideous experience is broadcast into the cyborg's mind via his optic nerves, as he is tormented by an interrogator attached to the same machine.

Concepts inspired by episodes 9 and 10 of Tales from the Afternow.

Additionally, I am sure that some of the later scenes (the surgical scenes) were inspired by some of the art I've seen over many hours spent browsing the galleries of various horror photographers on here. So with that, I thank the likes of @Xerces, ^PorcelainPoet and many others for inspiring me to try portraying something a bit more morbid and gruesome than I would have otherwise.

Thanks.

Progress has been far too slow, but there should be a longer version (around 6 minutes long) online in a few weeks.

There are a couple of stills from the newer version here: [link]

Animation wise, this was pretty good. The details were great, and the drawings were well done. I like the level of detail you put into everything. It really makes a difference.

A few minor complaints though. Sound. It feels kinda empty and it's easy to get distracted when there's no sound....unless there's something wrong with my speakers. :D

Also, at times, things just looked too stiff. Don't get me wrong, your animations are GREAT. It's just sometimes, things looked like they should be moving when they weren't, and at one point it looked like they were sliding.

Overall though, your animating is great. Things were really fluid, along with being highly detailed. Good job!

Glad to know you like it. I aim for a good level of detail in everything I do. Be it a flash animation, or a laboratory report.

I will aim to include some sound in the next version I submit.

There are a few scenes which I'm not too happy with. One has already been fixed (the scenes in which the cyborg is strapped to the chair, new version: [link] ). As for the scene in which they appear to slide, I suspect you are referring to the scenes in which the prisoner is dragged down the corridor (front view). Those two scenes should not be too difficult to fix (I've already edited the speech in those scenes).

Thanks for the feedback.

No problem! The still looks much better than the original I think, and if the problems are easy to fix, then I'm sure the final product will definitely be worth watching!
